first_imgDirk Kuyt has been left suitably impressed with former team-mate Steven Gerrard’s route on to reaching his ultimate goal of becoming Liverpool managerThe 38-year-old vacated his role as a youth coach at Anfield last summer to take charge of Scottish Premiership side Rangers and has since guided them to second place in the standings.Gerrard has managed 19 wins, 13 draws and six defeats in his opening 38 matches in charge at senior level as a coach.And Kuyt, who retired from football in 2017 after leading boyhood club Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title in 18 years, praised Gerrard’s bold move to joining Rangers.“When Steven Gerrard just became a coach with the Liverpool youth, I talked to him about the road he was going to follow. He made a conscious choice to leave Liverpool right away,” Kuyt told De Telegraaf.“He wants to develop himself as a coach outside the spotlights of the Premier League. Glasgow Rangers is a big club.
