Sizzling start to the year for Mercure Kooindah waters with swag of

first_imgConference rooms nights up 57% for January after joining AccorAfter a massive 2012 which saw Mercure Kooindah Waters win a swag of awards and post record increases in both rate and occupancy, the new year has started off with a bang as well, according to General Manager Jessie Sheehan.  She says the resort increased January conference room nights by 57% on the previous year and confirmed February conference bookings up by 244 room nights. And just one month into 2013, they have already booked a dozen more weddings than last year, following a succesful wedding expo at which they gave away a $10,000 wedding. “Since joining Accor we have had bumper increases in our occupancy and rate levels, with our December average rate increasing by $21 per room and our Christmas Daybookings up more than 11%,” Jessie said. “The resort has really sealed its place as one of the best conference and event venues in the Central Coast/Hunter region and we are hoping for more awards wins in 2013.”Having already won the 2012 NSW Business Tourism Gold Award, the Hunter Central Tourism Gold Award for Meetings and Business Tourism and the 2012 Wyong Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Sustainability Award, in addition to several meetings and venue awards in 2011, Mercure Kooindah Waters has worked tirelessly to not only attract event tourism to the area but to ensure that delegates who  come to the resort have the best possible experience. Mercure Kooindah Waters will now represent NSW at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Hobart in February in the category of Business Tourism, with other finalists including Melbourne Convention & Exhibtiion Centre, Darwin Convention Centre and Hyatt Regency Perth.Accor took over management of the resort from Mantra in July 2011 and has focused on putting MICE business into the hotel. However, Jessie says they have also seen a surge in leisure bookings thanks to the hotel’s extensive leisure facilities which include an indoor lap pool, spa and sauna, outdoor pool, endota Day Spa, children’s playground and tennis courts. The resort is set on a Championship-standard 18-hole golf course designed by Ross Watson in conjunction with Craig Parry and has been named in the top 100 golf courses in Australia.  With 95 hectares of beautiful gardens, wetlands and lakes, it provides the perfect setting for any event or escape, with picturesque views in every direction. The resort’s Karinya’s Restaurant and Wine bar has also proven very popular with both guests and locals alike.Accommodation includes a range of room styles from standard rooms to three-bedroom apartments and meeting facilities include six meeting with a ballroom for up to 300 delegates – all just five minutes from the F3, and 20 minutes from the beautiful beaches of the Central Coast.   Source = Accor Hotelslast_img read more
