Morocco France Reiterate Commitment to Security Cooperation

Rabat- Morocco and France reiterated their commitment to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of security and the fight against terrorism, Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad said on Saturday in Rabat.Hassad, who was speaking to the press following a meeting with his French counterpart Bernard Cazeneuve, said that the talks “were an occasion for us to reiterate our full readiness to further boost cooperation between our respective security services.”This cooperation includes “the fight against terrorism through a confident and intense exchange of intelligence and experiences,” said the Moroccan official. The Minister said that the talks were also an opportunity to discuss “the latest development concerning the terrorist threat in the region and to define the priority areas for cooperation.”Hassad, who expressed satisfaction at the “unique partnership” with France, said that he agreed with his French counterpart to increase the frequency of meetings between Moroccan and French security officials with a view to enabling a better coordination in terms of combating terrorism and organized crime.The Moroccan Minister also pointed out to the context of the meeting which is held following the signature of a new agreement between Morocco and France on judicial cooperation.The meeting is also held following the meeting held between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the French President last February 09 in Paris during which the two Heads of State a fresh impetus was added to bilateral relations between Morocco and France.
