Missing those four guys could cause some headaches for us.” The four players who are either out or at least doubtful for the game are Adam Garcia, a 5-foot-11, 265-pound offensive tackle (ankle); Sergio Dias, a 6-3, 275-pound nose guard (elbow); Robert Arriola, a 6-3 180-pound tight end (concussion); and Brian Minero, a 5-10, 200-pound linebacker (knee). California is 1-2 after suffering a disappointing 21-7 loss to Long Beach Jordan last week. “Jordan was big, too, and had good speed,” Ancich said. “But I was very happy with the way our kids played. They weren’t intimidated at all. Losing never feels good, but I think we learned some things about ourselves.” Ancich says the Condors’ record may be misleading. California is missing at least four players whom coach Dusan Ancich describes as “some of our more physical players.” The teams play a nonleague game tonight at Schurr. center_img “We’ve played some very good teams,” he said, referring in addition to Jordan a 28-14 loss to Rowland and a 42-7 win over El Monte. The three combined have a 7-2 record. “Our problem has been (making) mistakes at inopportune times,” Ancich added. “The good thing is that they are correctable mistakes.” Schurr has been outscored 88-54, but turned in an impressive performance in a 30-26 loss to a good Hacienda Heights Wilson team last week. The Spartans have shown improvement in each of their games, starting with a 30-14 loss to Burbank Burroughs and followed by a 28-14 loss to Downey, which is ranked No. 8 in CIF-Southern Section Division III. — Roger Murray can be reached at (562) 698-0955, Ext. 3046, or by e-mail at [email protected] 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
